Backbends

Practicing backbends is highly beneficial for the health, youth, mobility and integrity of the spine. The effect of space creation helps to improve natural breathing and improve one’s mental state of mind.

In this workshop we will expand upon the Hatha basics into heart opening and healthy spinal extensions using active and passive Backbends. Some postures will incorporate the use of props so poses can be held, with correct alignment, for longer periods of time and all benefits experienced. From simple postures to partner work in learning “Drop backs”.... we will cover many different spinal extensions.

Expect to bend and extend while also working through any fears that arise and revelling in feelings of excitement. Come and learn to soften into your boundaries in a safe and supported environment with an emphasis on alignment. You will leave feeling energised, open, alert and totally alive!
